  Contents:	Im Rahmen der Veranstaltung bekommen die Studierenden einen Einblick in die Themenbereiche "Gesundheit" und "Umwelt" - sowie deren Zusammenhang - aus einer ökonomischen Perspektive. Es werden Studien aus unterschiedlichen Kontexten herangezogen (d.h. aus dem Globalen Norden und Süden). Der Fokus des Seminars liegt auf der Schnittstelle „Wirtschaft, Klimaschutz, Gesundheit und Nachhaltigkeit“. Die Frage nach ökonomisch sinnvollen Lenkungsinstrumenten und Anreizsystemen wird behandelt und kann später im Rahmen von Bachelor- und Masterarbeiten vertieft werden.

• Applied Health Economics and Impact Analysis (375023)

  Contents:	In dem Seminar sollen empirische Studien/Wirkungsanalysen aus dem Bereich der Gesundheits- und Entwicklungsökonomie kritisch betrachtet werden. Die Studierenden können sich einen Forschungsartikel aus der bereitgestellten Themenliste auswählen. Zu diesem Artikel/Thema können die Studierenden zwischen folgenden Optionen wählen: Verfassung eines Referentenberichtes Verfassung eines Forschungsvorschlags Die Ergebnisse werden abschließend präsentiert. Außerdem wird jedem Studierenden ein anderer Referentenbericht/Forschungsvorschlag zugeteilt und diesen zusätzlich kritisch in einem Kurzreferat würdigen.

  Contents:	Goals: The participants of this reading group will advanced their knowledge and conceptual understanding of common empirical or theoretical challenges that are relevant for applied economics work. In particular, the participants studied either a recent paper presenting a possible solution to a common issue that goes beyond the status quo and is at the frontier of applied economics research or they learned more generally about an existing and increasingly popular advanced method or theory by working through an overview paper. These existing methods and theories then have broad appeal to the researchers working on the frontier of applied economics, i.e., with publication or prospect of publication in leading economics journals. Requirements: Participants present their paper to the group and initiate a discussion around the advantages of the paper’s contribution, e.g., vis-a-vis the presenters and group members’ own challenges. They also actively engage in group discussions of papers presented by other participants. Finally, participants develop a research proposal based on the discussed methods and theories.
